KATHERINE WARD, LCSW

WELCOME

The only journey is

the journey within.

Rainer Maria Rilke

For many, entering therapy is an anxiety-provoking step, driven by painful circumstances. However, it also represents the beginning of a richly rewarding journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I can help you with a wide variety of problems, including  anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, grief and trauma. Please visit the "About" tab to see the full scope of my practice. I have been in private practice for over 25 years, first in the Washington, D.C. area and for the past 20 years in Boulder.  My training at the Smith College School for Social Work gave me a strong background in insight-oriented, psychodynamic therapy. Since then, I have trained extensively in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and find it enormously effective in resolving both single incident and complex trauma.  I have also studied a variety of stress and anxiety management techniques, including Hypnotherapy, MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and Mindful Self-Compassion. An additional interest and area of study has been Internal Family Systems (IFS). The depth and variety of my training and experience has created a multifaceted approach that allows me to meet you where you are and guide you in the right direction.
